For the past 15 years, the Over-the-Rhine Chamber of Commerce has recognized outstanding individuals, businesses and nonprofits in Over-the-Rhine who have had an immense impact on the neighborhood via the OTR Chamber’s OTR Made Awards. Formerly known as the Star Awards, the OTR Chamber’s OTR Made Awards is a community-wide celebration of the people and businesses who have greatly contributed to the economic vitality of OTR. It also recognizes those who are leaders in building an inclusive climate for all, creating a place where all are welcome to visit, live, work, and build a business.

OTR Chamber’s OTR Made Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, March 5th at Memorial Hall (1225 Elm Street, downtown Cincinnati). Doors will open at 5:00 p.m., the official program will begin at 6:00 p.m., with reception to follow from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Findlay Kitchen entrepreneur Flavors of the Isle will provide party fare, guests will enjoy live music by Emmaline, and a live painting from Owen "Tenzing" Gunderman, winner (and youngest participant) of BLINK's Secret Walls.
Candice Matthews Brackeen will serve as the event’s Keynote Speaker. She is the Founder and CEO of Lightship, the Cincinnati-based portfolio service firm and fund whose family of companies include nationally recognized entrepreneur education programs Hillman and NewMe. Lightship companies work together in support of tech-driven startups led by underrepresented entrepreneurs.
As CEO of Hillman, the first entrepreneur education program in the Midwest providing support exclusively to WMBEs, Candice has influenced state policy around economic inclusion in addition to establishing meaningful partnerships with companies like Procter & Gamble, Kroger, and Chase in support of Hillman’s work. She has over 15 years of entrepreneurial experience including co-founding Hello Parent, a national safety technology partner of the Brady Campaign to Reduce Gun Violence, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. She later founded the Cincinnati Chapter of the Black Founders Network (BFN), to address the need for increased diversity and inclusion efforts in the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.
